Volkswagen taigun
Most awaited Volkswagen Taigun is finally unveiled. The Volkswagen Taigun is a sub compact SUV made for Indian market. It is based on the MQB IN platform that is also shared with the Skoda Sibling Kushaq. Volkswagen-Skoda are taking a different approach in the design, features and pricing of the two SUVs.

Exterior design

The Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun share a lot of components and the side profile is very similar to the Skoda Kushaq moreover the door panels are same as the Kushaq. The front grille is sleek, reflecting signature Volkswagen design and there is a lot of chrome insert for Indians liking. The LED tail lights run through the tailgate which looks good.


The Volkswagen Taigun will be offered with 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engines that are also shared with the elder sibling Kushaq. The 1.0-liter turbo petrol will make 108bhp and 175Nm torque. The more powerful 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine makes 147 bhp and 250Nm torque.

The Volkswagen Taigun gets three transmission options. The 1.0-liter turbo petrol can be had with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox. However the most exciting 1.5-liter TSI it gets the 7-speed DSG for the automatic.


Taigun interior
The interior of the production variant has not yet been unveiled. The Interior space is identical to the Kushaq, dashboard has VW touch. It gets a 10-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Unlike the Skoda Kushaq, the Volkswagen Taigun gets a fully digital 10.2-inch instrument cluster.

The Features are quite similar to the Skoda Kushaq. The two front seats get ventilated option, rear-view camera, multi-function steering wheel and electric sunroof. It also gets ambient lighting and type-c charging ports.


Volkswagen will also get several safety features, like ABS with EBD, ESC, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system and also 6 airbags for passengers inside the Taigun SUV.


The prices are not announced yet. It is expected to be priced a bit lesser than the Skoda Kushaq. There will be a GT line variant that might be priced more than the Kushaq. Overall it is expected to be priced between ₹9.5 Lakh to ₹18 lakhs ex-showroom.
