New Toyota Fortuner: Everything you need to know

Toyota Launched the facelifted Toyota Fortuner 2021 that gets some serious updates. There are several design elements that are changed and a new  top variant which is called the Legender has been launched with a different sporty design. Under the hood it gets the same engines with more punch.

In the exterior, it gets a change in the headlight that is integrated with a LED daytime running light. In the front you will notice the large grille and redesigned fog lamps. The Toyota Fortuner Legender is rather sportier than muscular. It has a different grille design with a three segment headlight separated with LED daytime running lights. The new Fortuner gets 18-inch alloy wheels. In the back the only change is the slimmer LED taillamps.


Color availability
The Standard Fortuner is offered with several color options. Even though the Legender in the international market has several color options Toyota only brought the white and black dual tone to India.


Interior and Dashboard
The Fortuner’s interior has not always been up to the mark compared to the rivals. The Toyota Fortuner Legender and the standard variant get almost the same interior layout except the upholstery color schemes. The standard variant comes with the option of all-black interior or a dual tone cabin. The Legender only gets a dual tone black-Maroon and it also gets a different instrument cluster with black inserts.

Fortuner’s new Features

When it comes to features, the Legender gets some additional features compared to the standard Fortuner. The Legender gets wireless mobile charging, ambient lighting, rear USB ports and a gesture control boot opener. The standard Fortuner gets the 11-speaker JBL sound system offered only with a 4WD variant. The new features that are added are the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated seat, auto dimming IRVM and an 8-inch infotainment system.


Safety systems Fortuner
Safety features in the Toyota Fortuner 2021 include seven airbags, ABS with EBD. It gets front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, traction control, hill launch assist and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The hill descent control and locking differential (Electronic) are offered only with the 4WD variant.


2.8L diesel engine
The Standard Fortuner is offered with a petrol and diesel option. It comes with a 2.7 liter petrol engine and a 2.8-liter diesel engine that can be had with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AT. The Legender comes only with the diesel engine mated with a 6-speed torque converter automatic only. It is offered with a 2WD option only.

Toyota Fortuner Legender front look
The Toyota Fortuner 2021 is available in multiple variants priced between 29.98 Lakh to 37.43 Lakh (ex-showroom). The Legender is offered in a single variant priced at 37.58 Lakh that is 2.74 Lakh more than the standard 2WD Fortuner. The Legender costs as much as an Audi Q3 but still does not come with 4WD.

Next Gen- Fortuner may Debut in 2022

After the facelifted Fortuner Toyota might get the Next-gen Fortuner by 2022. It might have electric steering with improved connectivity and ADAS. It will continue with the body on frame architecture and will have a hybrid powertrain so more fuel-efficient for sure
