Skoda Kushaq
The Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has come up with its first product under the INDIA 2.0 project. The Skoda Kushaq is the first car from the brand that is made in India and made for India. The Kushaq is all set to be unveiled in March and we will have to wait until then for the entire feature list.

Design

Design
Skoda has not unveiled the Kushaq but it has showcased a concept called Vision IN concept in the 2020 Auto Expo. The Skoda Kushaq looks similar to the vision IN concept with the camouflage and will be Skoda’s first car that is designed based on Indian customer feedback.

Design: India Specific

Skoda Vision IN
The SUV will feature India-specific element’s, including the MQB A0 IN platform. In addition, various components are engineered for Indian conditions. Some components need not withstand extreme temperature in Indian weather conditions so they can use different types of plastics without compromising durability.

Localisation

Kushaq concept on road
The Skoda Kushaq will be launched with 93% localisation which might be increased to 95% in the future. The auto industry in India is currently not able to localise 100% due to certain types of components. Some components (mainly electronics) still have to be imported.

Engine

India specific designs
Similar to a lot of automakers in Indian market, Skoda will from now use only petrol engines. The Kushaq will only be offered with 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engines. The 1.0-liter turbo petrol will make 108bhp and 175Nm torque. However, for more power there is the 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine makes 147 bhp and 250Nm torque.

Transmission

Rear look skoda
The Kushaq will be offered with three different transmission options. A six speed manual, six speed automatic or the 7-speed DSG. The current king of the segment Kia Seltos offers a diesel engine and more than 50 % of the buyers go for the diesel variant.

Interior

The second row will not have any transmission tunnel and the torsional rigidity will be significantly more than the rapid.
