Kushaq launch
The Kushaq is the most important product for the brand in India. There are several reasons for this. It enters a segment which has the most demand. Secondly, Skoda hopes to revive its market share with the Kushaq and finally, Kushaq is the first product that is made for India keeping in mind the taste of Indian customers.

So what does Skoda Kushaq have to offer?

Skoda has made sure that the Kushaq does not miss out on anything. Skoda in the past was criticized  for not offering a lot at the price they charged but that’s not the case with the Kushaq. The Kushaq has the Skoda DNA in the build quality, features on offer, premium fit and finish. It also has added some elements that Indian’s love.

Skoda Kushaq Exterior

Side view kushaq
The Kushaq looks handsome on the exterior. The big mustache type front grille adds to the name Kushaq that means King in Sanskrit. It gets LED projector headlamps at the front with DRL and fog lamps. It sits on a set of 17-inch alloy wheels that looks cool. Overall design from the outside is not like the traditional Skoda approach but more of an aggressive design approach.

Skoda Kushaq Engine options

Engine options
The Kushaq gets two engine options, the 1.0-liter turbo petrol that can be seen in rapid. It makes 103bhp and 175Nm torque which makes it a good performance pack but the 1.5-liter turbo petrol makes a whooping 147 bhp and 250Nm torque. The engine numbers look really good and the 1.5 L turbo petrol has numbers similar to a diesel engine. Yes, sadly there is no diesel engine on offer, at least not yet.

Skoda Kushaq Transmission

Both the engines do get manual and automatic options. The 1.0-liter turbo petrol can be had with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox. For the most exciting 1.5-liter TSI it gets a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG for the automatic.

Skoda Kushaq Interior

Interior Dashboard of the Kushaq
There are a lot to talk about the interiors and the features. Let’s not rush and look at it one by one
The Front dash
When you sit inside you need to look at the logo to be reminded that you are in a Skoda. The funky AC vents and the chrome elements show that the Kushaq is different. While the Dashboard looks really good it has more plastic materials for a bit of cost cutting and a 10-inch infotainment system has all the features you need. It gets the connected car features, Android Auto and Apple carplay. The AC controls on the Kushaq are touch controlled and is unique in the segment.

Steering and Instrument cluster

two spoke steering
The Steering wheel gets only two spokes for a look that is unique. Some might like it and some might feel it odd. The Skoda Kushaq gets an analog instrument cluster with an MID (Multi Information Display). The instrument cluster is clean and is minimalistic

Ventilated seats

Both the front seats are equipped with ventilated seats which again is a very important feature needed for Indian market.

Cooled Glovebox

Temperature in India is mostly on the hotter side and a cooled glove box can be a fancy yet useful feature to have in your car.

Rear seats

ISOFIX child
The Rear seats have ample space even for a tall person. The seat is positioned for great under thigh support making it more comfortable. The legroom for the middle passenger however is only sufficient for a child. The seats also come with ISOFIX child seat mounts and three adjustable headrests.

Rear AC vents

The Kushaq does not miss out on any features that are most demanded in India. It does get rear AC vents making the cooling more efficient.

The Kushaq gets India’s most favorite feature which is the sunroof but is not panoramic.
