Altroz i-Turbo and i20 1.0T: which is better?

The Altroz Turbo is here and is the brand’s first turbo petrol hatchback. However, the rivals for the car for now are Volkswagen polo and the new i20. We will ignore the VW polo for now considering the sales number. The Hot hatchbacks for now are the Altroz Turbo and i20.

Power and transmission

The Altroz is the only Turbo petrol in the segment that will not offer an automatic option. However it will be getting dual clutch automatic in the future. The i20 turbo on the other hand will be offered only with an automatic and Hyundai’s clutchless manual transmission called iMT. It actuates the clutch automatically before you shift the gear.

Altroz Safety
Tata is in the lead when it comes to safety of their vehicle. The Altroz is just another Tata with the usual 5-star rating in the global NCAP test. The i20 has still not been tested for safety. While Tata misses out some basic safety features such as electronic stability control and hill hold ,i20 is the only car in the segment to offer tyre pressure monitoring.

Both the cars fight bumper to bumper when it comes to features. The Altroz turbo variant gets leather upholstery and the i20 turbo gets wireless charging which the Altroz turbo.

Both the rivals have three trims in their turbo variant. The Altoz comes with XT turbo, XZ turbo and XZ+ turbo and the price ranges from ₹7.99 to ₹8.75 Lakh. The Hyundai i20 has the Asta, sport and Asta opt with the turbo petrol and the price ranges from  ₹8.79 to  ₹11.32 Lakh.
